Why a DoubleDown Code Says Already Collected or Expired

It is the question we get asked more than any other. I clicked the code, the game said it was already collected, and nothing arrived - what happened?

The message usually reads something close to "It looks like you have already used this promo code or it has expired." It sounds like an error. It is not. It is the game telling you the plain truth about that one code, and there are four ordinary reasons behind it.

The four reasons

1. You really did collect it already. Every DoubleDown code works exactly once per account, ever. The same code often floats around for days on different sites and pages, so it is easy to run into a code on Tuesday that you collected on Sunday without realizing it was the same one. The game remembers, even when we do not.

2. The code expired. DoubleDown decides how long each code stays alive. Most last three to five days, some are switched off within hours, and a few last weeks. If a code sat in your bookmarks overnight, there is a fair chance it aged out.

3. You are signed in to a different account. If you sometimes play through Facebook and sometimes with an email login, those are two separate accounts. A code collected on one shows as new on the other, and switching accounts partway through a day is a common way to lose track of what you have taken.

4. The code came from an older batch. We keep every code we have ever posted, and a search engine will happily send you to a page from weeks ago. Old codes are history rather than treasure - their chips are long gone.

What it is not

It is not a broken link, and it is not something we can put right from our end. We share codes; we do not create them, and we cannot issue chips or reset a code for one account.

It is also not worth a second attempt. Once your account has taken a code, it is done for good, and no amount of clicking changes that. Only DoubleDown's own support can look at what a particular account has and has not collected.

When the popup means something else

Two other messages get mistaken for this one.

If the game says you have had too many offers and asks you to try again later, that is the redemption limit rather than an expired code. DoubleDown allows up to 12 free-chip offers in a 180-minute window. Wait it out and the rest of the list will still be there. Codes marked FREE SPIN are exempt from that count, so you can keep taking those in the meantime.

If a link dumps you on a website front page instead of opening the game, that one really is broken. Send it to support@ddpcshares.com and we can usually fix it, because broken links on our own pages are squarely our job.

Seeing it less often

The habit that makes this message rare is simple: collect from the top, on the day.

Each post carries a label that tells you where it stands. Fresh means we put it up today. Active means it went up less than three days ago. Older means what it says, and older codes fail more often - though a failure costs you nothing but a click.

If you have been away for a while, the month-by-month archive at https://www.ddpcshares.com/double_down_c ... es/archive will show you exactly what you missed. Expect most of it to be past its life, and treat it as a reading list rather than a shopping list.

That message is bookkeeping, not bad luck. Close it, start again at the top of https://www.ddpcshares.com/double_down_c ... tion_codes, and carry on down - there is usually more of today's list left than you think.
