Installing DoubleDown Casino on an Android Phone or Tablet

Post by DDPCShares »

Putting DoubleDown Casino on an Android phone or tablet takes about two minutes. The five minutes of setup afterward matter more, because that is what decides how many free chips find their way to you later.

Here is the whole thing, start to finish.

Installing the app

1. Open the Google Play Store on your phone or tablet.
2. Tap the search box at the top and type DoubleDown Casino.
3. Tap the DoubleDown Casino result in the list.
4. Tap Install and wait for it to finish.
5. Tap Open to start the game.

Signing in the first time

Sign in the same way you already play. If you have been playing on a computer through Facebook, choose Facebook here and use that same account. Your chips and your progress come with you, because your account lives with your login, not with the device.

If DoubleDown is brand new to you, this is the moment your 1,000,000 starter chips arrive.

Whichever way you sign in, pick one and stay with it. Two different logins are two different accounts, and a promo code you collect on one does nothing at all for the other.

Turning notifications on, which is the free chips part

DoubleDown sends free chips straight to your device as notifications. They only reach you if two separate switches are on: one inside the game, one in Android itself.

Start inside the game:

1. Open the DoubleDown Casino app.
2. Tap the menu button in the top right, next to your chip count.
3. Under settings, look for "mobile notifications" and "email newsletter".
4. Opt in to both. When it has worked, a green ACTIVATED with a check mark appears.

Then switch them on in Android:

1. Open your Settings app.
2. Tap Apps & Notifications.
3. Find DoubleDown in the list and tap it.
4. Tap App Notifications and switch it on.

Menu names shift a little from one Android version to another. On some older versions the path is Settings, then Apps, then DoubleDown, then Notifications, where you switch off Block instead of switching anything on. On older devices still, it is Settings, then Application Manager, then DoubleDown, then Show notifications with a checkbox to tick.

One detail catches almost everybody once. You have to tap or swipe the notification itself to claim the chips it is carrying. Opening the app afterward does not collect them, and the notification does not wait forever.

When a code link will not open the game

This is the classic Android hiccup. You tap a promo code link, and instead of the game opening, nothing useful happens.

The fix is one tap: open the "..." menu in the top-right corner and choose "Open in an external browser." The code then usually redeems normally. It is worth remembering, because it turns a frustrating evening into a non-event.

A note for older tablets

The Favorites feature, which lets you save slots into your own folder, needs Android 5.0 or higher. On a much older tablet you may not see it at all, and there is nothing wrong with your device if so.

With the app installed and both switches showing green, add https://www.ddpcshares.com/double_down_c ... tion_codes to your bookmarks. Fresh free chips are posted there every day, and your new tablet is now ready to catch them.
