What the Daily Wheel is
The Daily Wheel gives you one free spin every day. You spin it, it lands on a wedge, and the chips on that wedge go into your balance.
There is nothing to win or lose here, because there is nothing to stake. It is a gift with a little bit of theatre attached.
Make it the first thing you do when you open the game. A wheel spin you never collected is simply gone, and the wheel does not save them up for you.
The Friend Bonus wedge
One wedge on the wheel is different from the rest. The Friend Bonus wedge grows with the number of friends you have in the game.
It grows up to a ceiling: at 25 friends, the Friend Bonus wedge reaches its maximum of 250,000 chips. That is a genuinely nice landing spot for a free daily spin.
Friends are also how gift spins work, so building a friend list pays you twice. And if you invite someone who is new to the game, and they join through an invite you send from inside the game using the gifts console and Invite Friends, you receive 1,000,000 chips. They have to be new to DoubleDown and they have to come through your invite. Simply downloading the game on their own does not count for either of you.
Why more than 25 friends is smart
Since the wedge maxes out at 25, it is tempting to stop there. Do not.
People drift away from games. When a friend stops playing, they come off your list, and if you were sitting at exactly 25 you quietly drop below the maximum without noticing. A comfortable cushion of extra friends keeps that wedge at 250,000 through the normal comings and goings.
There is no cap on how many friends you can have, so there is no reason to be stingy about it.
Bigger wedges as you climb
Diamond Club is DoubleDown's free loyalty program, and everybody is in it. Your tier is shown as a color, from White at the bottom through to Royal at the top.
One of the perks of the higher tiers is higher Daily Wheel wedge values, so the same daily spin is worth more as you climb. Tiers rise through Loyalty Points, which come from chip purchases, so it is not something free play moves along. It is simply worth knowing why another player's wheel does not look like yours.
